T400 where to find official drivers?

#1 Post by thinkquan » Sat Jul 15, 2017 9:08 pm

What happened to Lenovo's official drivers support site for the T400? It seems that by searching by product on Lenovo's site turns up nothing earlier than T420 models.

In the meantime, where is a good place to go to grab T400 drivers? There are a number of 3rd party sites that pop up in a Google search, but which ones would you recommend?

Click on the "Drivers" link at the top of this page and navigate from there.

T400 does not seem to be on that list of older models.

Of the Lenovo links on the top of that page
http://support.lenovo.com/
takes you to a search box. T400 does not produce results, while T420 and newer models do produce results. Browsing through the list of products confirms this as the Tx20 models are as far back as it goes.

Apologies for sending you in the wrong direction. I've got no wisdom to offer at the moment, hopefully someone else will chime in...

Interesting observation. It seems Lenovo again decided to EOL the support pages for certain older machines. Except this time it was not announced in advance, so there was no loud complaint, and the enthusiasts did not respond in time to archive the pages.

Looks like T400/410 generations are in limbo. I wonder if the data still exists somewhere.

Excellent!

I wish it was indexed properly by the search engines, but this is in fact exactly what we were asking about in the first place. I'm almost shocked that they implemented it properly. :)

I saw the link in the Thinkpad subreddit a few weeks ago. But yeah, search engines haven't indexed it yet.

Thank you, fine sir.
I'm going to make a wiki section with that link on the subreddit.

do people have something against the setup app that you can download and it picks and you can choose the drivers you install?

Does this not work for 400s? Pretty sure it does but I havent done a 400 install for a while. THis is Win7 mind you.

See if someone can send you the drivers on disk or flashdrive from here. I have complete images for the T400, You can also get the drivers from someone elses c:\Windows\System32, SysWOW64.

Audio files from their audio folder, and if you have Radeon graphics, you can download those.

This will certainly get you up and running.

Thank you for posting the legacy link.

But,specifying T400 gets no dvd/cd/ultrabay drivers. Just a firmware update utility program.

For unknown reasons the driver on my T400 was corrupted. Un-installing and reinstalling automatically gets the same results, an Exclamation point in the device manager list.
under DVD/CD-ROM drives:
--Optiarc DVD RW AD-79105
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Not having any luck finding a driver on the WWW. Looks like Sony made the Optiarc dvd/cd drive hardware that is in my T400. No drivers at the sony site either, just the firmware updater.

What OS are you using?. I hope you are not hoping to find the latest Windows 10 driver for this machine which was released way before Windows 10 and have become a legacy product. No one is going to spend the time and money on a EOL legacy product. If you're looking for drivers for Win XP, Vista or 7 for this machine it's all listed on the site via the above link.

Another cause of your problem maybe that the CD/DVD drive have physically failed and is done. I've had a similar issue with a desktop CD/DVD drive. I replaced it with another that I had kicking around and everything works fine now.
