As described in the title. Since Javi-Jie is running out of the old FHD kits, we were thinking of bringing the WQHD kits, which has been finished testing (It won't flicker like the T420/T430 non-s kits).
However, the problem, apart from my time avability, is the total number of kits for production. The cost for DIY kits like this depends heavily on the numbers. And the cost for producing 100 kits is not much lower than 150 kits. (And of course, the higher the number, the lower the cost.)

And since the retro is coming out, the risk for us to get in this is a bit high. Thus we are thinking of a pre-order style only, which we will refund all payments if designated number is not reached. But before the possible hassle of receiving payments/refunding, I'd just like to see the potential order size by runnin a poll. And if everything goes smoothly, I might open a pre-order thread in Sep.

Please also help me inform as many ppl on thinkpad-forum.de and reddit.

I'm definitely in. I got a t430s just to do these mods! Which reminds me, do you think you'll sell anymore of the fhd kits? Thinking of getting one incase the wqhd doesn't make it.

I definitely do have spare FHD kits, but not sure how many, need to clear the existing orders first. But will reserve one for you

Awesome, WQHD would take precedence for me but getting a fhd kit when you're ready will be a good backup

Eagerly awaiting the WQHD kits for T430s! Will get 2 for sure, maybe a couple more to do T420s as well!!

thank for asking about the kits. I voted for one. I would do it like the post before. Could you reserve me one of the old kits (T420s) if the production of the new kits doesn't work out.

Is there anything upcoming for non-S T420/T430's? I'd be interested in a WQHD kit for an S model but a FHD or WQHD kit for a regular T420/T430 would be way cooler IMO.

Well yes, non-s mods were often requested here in the forum, but I think they were more cumbersome to produce...

Javi is not gonna go for the non-s until the 2K kits work out good.
Good news is that there's a buyer from Japan wanting 30 kits, so abt 30 kits away from me starting pre-order

I would happily pay upfront for this, I'm assuming a screen from a 470s would be an ideal candidate for the lcd panel?

I have a couple of T420s/T430s and only one modded with a FHD IPS screen

I have to admit, I really like my T420s with it's FHD screen. It completely destroys my T61 and I hunted down the best screen I could get for it. I really like my T420s, but honestly considering the gpu horsepower needed, I think I'd look at the T430 series for a 2K screen. I'd be up to get one for sure.

The Retro, I'm waiting for the final product before I make that decision. I have several laptops, and even if I get the Retro, I'd still hold onto my older machines.

I would order 5+ non-s kits if they were available. Still hope..

I'd be in for 2 (one to install and one spare, as well as supporting the effort of classic 7 row keyboard + good screen + better chance for the non-s model (quad 14"!).)

Got hold of an FHD board (a whole laptop with it actually, but got hold of it nevertheless) but still VERY VERY interested in a WQHD

Late to the game, and I only have a T420, but I'd be willing to pick up a T4x0s kit if it'll help influence the decision to make a non-s kit. Can pay deposit on both if needed.

Currently using one of the FHD kits from the initial run and am very satisfied. Thanks RMS!
