T500 freezes on boot

#1 Post by wujstefan » Tue Aug 29, 2017 9:06 am

Hello,

I have saved a nice shape T500 from recycle bin - however, it does have an issue that hits pretty hard. The system hangs/freezes on "Lenovo" start screen. There is just no responce, I can't even open the DVD drive.

Tried to boot it without CMOS battery, but it just did not boot (at all, not even the Lenovo startup screen).

I'd love to save this sytem.

Any ideas apart from dead mobo?

Best,

Remove ANYthing removable, incl. RAM, then try with only the charger.
If beep 1-3-3-1, there is still hope.
Then add 1 item at the time and retry booting.
Repeat until problem found or the waste bin opens by itself..

well it is in there

however, when I plug the RAM back it's all the same. Tested with 5 different RAM modules.
What's more, when turning off the system the LCD remains stuck (pressing the power button gives a turn-off beep, but the LCD stays at Lenovo startup logo).

Oh well, I needed the LCD for my Z60m anyway ;)
