4G WWAN Card

#1 Post by n4ru » Sat Oct 28, 2017 1:09 pm

Where would I source a 4G WWAN Card for my older Thinkpads (T420/T430)? I have no whitelist, so can I just pop in ANY mSATA compatible WWAN card, or is there more to the spec that I'm missing? Does an mSATA 4G card exist?

T420 has a whitelist that can be removed with a modded BIOS.
T430 has a whitelist that can NOT be removed.

I was told that my BIOS flash removed the WLAN list. Why can't it be removed?

Well, you can't believe everything.
NOBODY has yet managed to remove the T430/T530/X230/W530 and newer whitelists.
(NO) thanks to Lenovo and UEFI.

AFAIK, coreboot supports the xx30 series and it does not preserve the whitelist.

Granted, coreboot is a wee bit more involved than simply flashing a new firmware.

I'm confused. The WLAN and WWAN whitelists are totally separate?

I ditched Coreboot since I'm on windows and there's 0 power management.
