Upper track point buttons stopped working

Were working fine- the two red striped 'mouse' buttons but soon after
(coincidence ?) letting Lenovo site upgrade all software/drivers
they both went dead. Bottom ones are Ok.
Removed caps/keys and white rubberish dome and cleaned with
alcohol but no help. For them to both die simultaneously
seems to indicate a software rather than a hardware problem ?
Went into Trackpoint settings but dont see separate off/on for
upper and lower buttons as in previous models.
( a recent ebay upgrade from a T60)
Thanks lots !

What model ThinkPad are you using? It reminds me of the issues I've experienced with ALPS touchpad/trackpoint models, where you would have to find a way to install the synaptic drivers to get the trackpoint buttons to work. In Device Manager, try and find the Hardware ID of your mouse - Lenovo may have installed the wrong one.
