what counts as overheating?

i'm currently running the T410 as my primary HTPC and it's set to run it's fan at 100% all the time and it is really hot... it's maintaining 85-87 C with the fan on max 100% of the time... I only use this laptop to access Directv Now Via Google Chrome hooked to a TV since it's internal display is going out.... will this hurt it in the long run? I need a better solution if this won't be good for it... what do you think?

I think you need to re-paste the processor and video chip.

You do have dust build up inside the heatsink's fan assembly.

Take the fan assembly off the heatsink (requires cutting off the melted "nail" heads plastic and slit the foil where heatsink fins meets the fan housing) then lift the fan to access heatsink fins to get dust build up removed, I use pieces of packing taped around the fan's housing attached to the heatsink assembly, the remaining pegs where heads were cut off are locating pins now.

Best heatsink design is 2 heat pipes or 3 pipes if you have GPU over the 1 heatpipe design. Get one from ebay and check for dust build up too before putting it in.

and possibly a new fan. I made one fan as good as new by removing the blades, thoroughly cleaning the pin and its hole, and re-lubing it with as much Magnalube as it will take.

I'll check for dust and I think I'll need to get some more grizzly thermal paste... Even my T440p is hot but it isn't anywhere near the T410... As the T440p runs alittle warm at 65c
