New SSD - Cloning , Partitioning

Hello ,

I have a new 500 GB SSD, after cloning the drive from the existing HDD. is it safe to Partition it or are there any disadvantages / performance impact in partitioning an SSD.

As long as you leave 15-20% free(unpartitioned) at the end (for overprovisioning), you can partition the rest all you like.

Not needed if the specs is less than 500GB as they tend to be 512GB down to 500 or 480GB by default to make easier for user to not worry about making sure partition is smaller than the actual capacity.
