Re: Are there and WQHD kits for the t420 non-s versions?
slightly offtopic:
i bought this FHD javi-jie clone to test (i dont feel bad about it since ive bought 4 kits through rmsmajestic, and javi-jie isnt selling the flicker-y one anymore, AND i will definitely throw this one out and buy his when he releases the non-flickering version):
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LCD-con ... 68337.html
(i personally ask you not to buy this knock-off kit unless you are sure you will also buy javi-jies new-and-improved non-s kit when it comes out, which it should eventually)
this knock-off goes behind the LCD instead of in the chassis, to limit interference.
BUT it still flickers in my T430, though only during heavy battery charging. presumably, this is just because of heavy draw from the a/c adapter, but i cant monitor total power usage in acpi, just battery charge rate.
SO, i wrote a script to monitor the power, and when the battery charges at a rate greater than 35W, it inhibits charge for 2 seconds and then resumes. it shoots back down to 20W, and slowly climbs, lather-rinse-repeat.
after running this script for a week, my average charging rate went from 32W => 26W, which isnt TOO bad, but it is noticeably slower to charge.
=> more importantly, it hasnt flickered in a week, despite very predictably flickering without this script.
ALSO, it never flickers if i use a 65W adapter instead of a 90W adapter. (battery never charges more than 30W)
it also causes very slight backlight bleed, because it bends the screen a tiny bit. it took awhile to get it positioned right, but the bleed isnt noticeable anymore except on a black screen and only if you look for it. still, annoying.

Does he flicker constantly when you're charging it, or just occasionally?
I wonder if a small capacitor might help smooth it out?

You reckon? Can anyone confirm for sure?
Also, wasn't the original Javi non-S problem caused by emi from the motherboard m? Yet this board fits behind the screen, so it's a lot further away, unless the interference source is the display connector on the motherboard, but that seems unlikely.

isn't the AC power cable right next to the lvds connector in the motherboard? maybe that's whyTankPad wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 2:06 pmYou reckon? Can anyone confirm for sure?

I have this FHD mod (some ebay seller) on my t420 with BA140HAN01.2 and it works perfectly. It is flicker-free even after quad core upgrade + 90w adapter.

DO you need WQHD for T420 Laptop ? We are testing one kit for it ( 2560X1440 ) , and it is working now, but the backlight seems have some problem, and it still need to test more days to find any other problem. Maybe It will be on sale after about 1 -2 months.

Tha'ts great! Will it work with the nvidia versions of the T420 as well? or only intel?
