T420 Battery Options

Hey All,

I did a basic forum search and not much turned up so I'm making a new topic.

2 years ago For my T420 I bought a brand new 70++ battery (from Amazon) with a FRU that supposedly contained the Panasonic Cells After 1.5 years of hard use, the battery had 80% life left.

Then after an 8 hour car trip with the battery mostly charged and the laptop off, the battery failed. There is still an 83% charge left in the cells, but the T420 can neither charge or draw power from the battery--the controller inside is bad?

I'm not happy how I bought an OEM Lenovo Battery from Amazon in original Lenovo Packaging brand-new for $110 only to have the electronics inside to fail for no good reason.

I've been looking around on eBay for less-expensive 9-cells that are still good quality. Do y'all have any recommendations on where I can find a good battery for a good price? I don't want to buy another expensive battery with the risk of it failing.

Buy a used battery and look into recelling.
Check out some vaping resources as they are into 18650s and Li-Po packs and they do testing. Non-OEM battery will use cheap chinese cells or rewraps. Only way is to recell yourself or have it recelled where you know which actual packs go in.
