Hello,
on my T400 I have a recurring problem .... I have the message fan error that comes on startup ... by typing Esc I can start Windows Vista pro ... but the computer warms because the fans do not run or not enough or randomly ... I already disassembled and cleaned but it did not change anything ...
To have a view of the T ° and speed of the fans I used TPFancontrol successfully for two days, and no error message at startup, then during the day it is disabled (ie he was no longer responding to my orders), the fans stopped ... obviously at restart I had again the message Fan error and I can not get rid of it .... the problem comes t- there's a conflict between windows speedfan and tpfan control, bios, windows defender ...?
I uninstalled TPfancontrol, cleaned the computer, passed MBAM, then reinstalled TPfancontrol ... but at startup I always get the error message and TPfancontrol does not react to my commands.
I specify the configuration:
T400 / vista bussiness sp 2 / intel core 2 P8400 / BIOS 3.24 (7UET94WW)
Your tips are welcome !

Welcome to the Forum.
You'll need to replace the fan.
Get the T400 manual from the HMM link at the top of this page.
There are different fans for Integrated or Discrete graphics, so make sure you get the right one.
When in doubt, get a Discrete one.
Also get some good thermal paste, apply as per: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appmeth ... d_v1.1.pdf
