Switchable graphics- how to startup with integrated?

#1 Post by luciarakan » Tue Oct 16, 2018 4:05 am

Hi, I've just upgraded my T500 with an ssd, and am trying to replicate my settings from my old hard drive from scratch with a clean install of W7

I'm almost sure I was able to start in integrated graphics while being able to switch over to discrete through power manager. I can switch to integrated from discrete but I rarely need to be running in that mode.

Also, the Intel ME software downloaded from lenovo drivers page won't install (your computer doe not meet the minimum requirements), though the integrated graphics work fine.

Well this is... problematic.

Starting at some point Lenovo diabled manual switching using power manager. I am afraid you have to stick with integrated/dedicated and switch via bios or hunt for old drivers that would work.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!

It is supposed to retain the graphics settings from your last reboot. If I shutdown my T500 in Integrated, it starts up in Integrated and the other way around.

You might just be stuck with manual switching from using the BIOS. Although their should be an older driver that might work.

That is exactly what I'm trying to do but somehow my bios reverts to 'switchable' on next bootup so I have to manually revert to integrated every time

in BIOS disable "OS Detection"? That will auto enable Switchable graphics if it detects you're running anything other than XP.
