I have a situation with a T410s which I am trying to fix for a friend. The machine has got serviced / refurbished motherboard from Lenovo ( i5 with NVDA 3100M ). The board has not been used for sometime and was sitting on the shelf.
The hard drive used is 128GB SSD ( 1.8" sata with Windows 7 ). Problem description below:
Machine boots up, thinkpad logo shows up and no errors or beeps. The Bluetooth / wifi wan indicator flashes and then it resets, and reboots again to thinkpad logo. No errors, no beeps. Will do the same if trying to boot of CD, usb, or regular drive . Or selecting a drive of choice with F12.
Now if I disconnect the battery, rtc battery , unplug power and let it go to default, then try to power on the machine, it comes up and complains about default date 01-01-2001 , default config etc. and upon hitting escape key, it will boot of the drive into OS. Once inside the OS I can set the correct date. I can reconnect the rtc battery when the os is running.
As long as windows is restarted or suspended /sleep the machines boots into the OS without problems. But if a full shutdown is done. Then upon power on the same cycle happens, again have to disconnect rtc battery to default the config ...
Never seen such a behavior as if there is something wrong with Bios or it does not like the date, or something with checksum etc. Has anyone faced something like this.

Probably your yellow CMOS-battery is (near-)dead.
Replace and leave it in.
Remove main battery and charger, then hold down power-button for 20 seconds.
Reboot with only charger.

Thank you RBS, finally got my new cmos battery and that seems to have solved it.
Now trying to upgrade the wifi card, tried using the whitelist bios seems like it the TPM does not like the modified bios and gives 5 beeps.
