Advice: T500 Screen Replacement

#1 Post by ArtShapiro » Mon Jun 03, 2019 2:21 pm

My wife dropped her T500 at just the wrong angle, and there's now a vertical white line top to bottom in the dead center of the screen, maybe an eighth of an inch wide. The rest of the screen image is fine.

I assume that the panel is toast - I don't think this could be a loosened cable. Agree?

I have several T500 carcasses from machines that have failed over the years, just sitting waiting for an incident like this.

What's my easiest option? Replace the panel? Swap the lids? Something else? And is there a shortcut beyond the obviously-correct but time-consuming process in the HMM? I think I vaguely remember that folks have managed to swap screens without full disassembly by partially disassembling the lid. Am I mistaken?

Advice obviously welcome regarding the easiest way of getting her machine back on the air.

Swap the entire LCD assembly if you have one available. If not, then just the panel.

Resolved...swapped in a WUXGA lid from a failed W500 without incident. Machine happy, wife happy, and hopefully she won't repeat the travesty.
