Install camera from one t500 into another

Hi,
I have a t5500 with a dead mobo, but it has a camera in the lid. I also have a good t500 without cam.
Can I just swap the cam unit and bezel from the bad one into the good one? It it just a matter of disconnecting the connector, or do I have to take the lcd off the old one and remove the entire ribbon cable?
Does the t500 without the cam have the circuitry for the cam or is it not that simple?
Thanks

Remove power and battery first.

You are correct only the front bezel needs to be removed for the swap. With the front bezel off you just need to disconnect the ribbon from the camera, and remove two screws to remove the camera module. Careful with the bezel stickers.

Thanks for the reply.
Before I take apart the t500 without the camera, will it have the same connector and screw mounts in the lid? It never did have a camera.

Yes, T500 is camera ready. So is W500. They use the same cable with all the available connectors. But you do intuit correctly that some of the other laptops such as T400 won't have the cable with connector if they didn't come with the webcam.
