IDE caddy for T510 drive bay?

#1 Post by singbad » Sat Aug 03, 2019 7:41 am

Hi,
I'm seeking an IDE caddy for the T510 drive bay. I don't have a FRU/PN.

Is there any such available?

best regards,

I doubt one exists, to be honest. By the time the T510 was introduced, IDE HDDs have been phased out so there's little impetus for such a device.

As a current owner of T410:

The T410 (and I would imagine the T510 which was released concurrently) came with SATA interface for your 2.5" hard drive of 11mm height.
There was no IDE (or PATA) interface option for the hard drive as far as we are aware, at least for T410.

***BUT there was a rare option of using your Ultrabay DVD with a IDE Hard Drive Bay Adapter for your T410.
We recalled there was such an option when we bought our T410.

But obviously it's almost impossible to find a 2nd hand OEM unit of such an IDE Hard Drive Bay Adapter for your T410.
(We recently gave someone our OEM SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III for our T410.)

There might or might not be 3rd party maker of IDE/PATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter for T410.

A few years ago, we did see 3rd party maker of SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter for T410.

Good luck!

From what I know the last adapter to work with IDE/PATA HDDs was 62P4553 for the T4x (or 41U3148 for T6x) lines. There is a SATA HDD ultrabay caddy for the T6x but it has a built-in SATA to PATA bridge, as the ultrabay in both devices is natively PATA. I do not know if it works in the T4x. These ultrabay adapters will not fit the newer Serial ultrabay slim in the Tx10 series.

It's so rare, it's not even listed in Thinkwiki: https://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ultrabay ... ed_Devices

Ok, thank you! So I'd better stop investing new money into old hardware ;-)
