T410 KEYBOARD PROBLEM

#1 Post by jermoumi » Fri Sep 06, 2019 4:43 pm

HELLO DEAR FRIENDS.

I HAVE A KEYBOARD PROBLEM
I'm using a T410 with windows 7. For several weeks my keyboard is acting weird.
WHEN I TYPE SOME LETTERS LIKE "E" IT SHOWS A WORD "poiureza" AND FOR THE LETTER "m" => "*mlkjfdsq"...
I don't know what's wrong with it.

Look at Control Panel, Accessibility Features and turn off any hot keys or keystroke shortcuts. That is one likely cause

Another problem could be a stuck key that is not a character key.

It's a hardware problem. It's likely there is a short which causes multiple keys to be sent when you press just one.

Disassembling the keyboard, thoroughly cleaning (with alcohol) the connector, ribbon cable and preferably also the membrane board (will need to remove keycaps) may help. It may be easier just to get a new keyboard.

I think its a virus because this happens sometimes and not all the times ... how can I make sure if the problem is related to software or to hardware (keyboard)?
n.b: I cleaned the keyboard and checked the hotkeys and nothing seems to be solved :(

Try a different operating system (like something running from a LiveCD / USB).
