T400 Brightness hotkey (Fn+Home/End) not working

#1 Post by Think43p » Thu Feb 06, 2020 5:31 pm

Im using a T400, 32 bit system with a recent upgrade to Win 10 (from Win 7) and my most frequently used hotkeys Fn + F5, F7 and PgUp etc now work fine but the Fn + Home/End for brightness elude me and what I mean by that is that neither the OSD nor the actual change of brightness work. This worked ok when I was on Win 7.

Any recommendation?

I'm not a Windows 10 user, but these are some websites I found for issues similar to your T400.

https://superuser.com/questions/948587/ ... windows-10
This one suggests device manager -> monitors -> right click Generic PnP Monitor -> Enable.

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht500157
This one is either update your driver or rollback your driver.

Thanks for the effort and the info posted but unfortunately that didnt work.

However I've just resolved the issue myself.

Fyi, I had 2 devices under display adapters in Device Manager. Anyway I booted into the BIOS and changed the setting from Switchable graphics to Integrated graphics and voila - on restart Im able to now change the brightness using the Fn+Home/End keys. Not sure if the change will cause any other issue somewhere else but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
