Thanks to AMD owned ATI, it is very interesting to see both Intel and AMD branded chips in new Thinkpads!

X400?

So does the arrival of the T400 and T500 means that the earlier rumours of a X400 (or even an X500) were untrue? Were they confusing the new T series laptops with larger X series models? I was hoping that Lenovo would offer a model like the X300, but with a slightly larger screen, but the new T400 is not significantly lighter than the last 14" Thinkpad I owned (a T42).

i'm starting to look forward to the T400. I was eying a nice T61 recently but at $1000 i was like nah. I was just gonna sell my T60 and put the difference towards the new T61 but then saw the T400 and started to drool. I like the switchable graphics part (even though i'll only need the Intel chip) Good to know but then again i wonder if this will make the prices go up higher again.

Basically all i need:

T400
WXGA+ Screen
4GB DDR3
802.11N WLAN
WWAN with GPS
4 Cell Battery + UltraBay (4 Cell - 4.3hrs?!! Holy crap)
64 SSD Drive
Vista Business 64bit

Hopefully i can get that for $1200 or less (i'm dreaming)

Yep, I'd say so. But according reviews the height is the same. The R also looks too fat. Haven't found any specs regarding R500 dimensions.

Sorry for being an annoyance, but I have a hard time figuring when all this becomes available. Looked like August 3rd - 4th, but still no word on Lenovo's US web site.

Depends where you live. :D

Supposedly, specs will be available and orders taken tomorrow. I expect that means some time during the day - not 12:01AM.

Often Lenovo holds back some options or models the first few weeks - especially from CTO. If you call, you can sometimes do better.

When will the new T400/500 series be available in Europe? I can't find them on the German website. :-(
