Combining the spreadsheet with the specs released by Lenovo earlier leads to a conclusion about the T400:
Don't get the integrated graphics unless you want a display with only 185 nit and no LED backlight.

Hardly any of the T models have webcams and if you want a webcam you have to have the T9400 and you have to have Robson... which from what I've heard is just a massive headache... plus we can't customise in the UK argh.

Yeah, there are a lot of strange configurations in that list. In some countries you can't customize the notebook, and instead have to chose between these preconfigured ones... well, two words - it stinks. I hope to be surprised tomorrow.

I'm glad it's not just me getting frustrated with these new laptops. Lenovo are making it really hard for me to buy my next notebook from them.

On the T400 only the WXGA+ (1440x900) uses the LED backlight.

All of the new T/W models come with the 5100 wireless card? I thought 5300 is the one for the high end and 5100's performance is said not as good as 4965AGN.

It's not always a bad thing of lacking the LED backlight or having a slightly low nit value. I feel the 150nit 14" screen on my T61p fits my eyes just fine. It is also said the LED backlight is more likely to suffer bad uniformity especially as each LED cell would aging differently.
Edit: If this customize page is correctly, evidently you can choose LED backlight screen on T400 with integrated GPU:
