UPS tracking says mine left China on the 4th, but its the 9th now and it still hasn't updated since then. Is that normal?

I took a slightly different track from most posts in this thread. I went to the Lenovo Outlet to see if I could get the T500 I wanted for less, and I think I was successful. This particular model was $533 dollars less than a T500 ordered new from Lenovo, even with the latest Logicbuy coupon. There are some really nice deals at the Outlet, but you have to be patient and you have to know exactly what you are looking for.

I got my T400 today! I'm loving it!!

Yea I got my T400 yesterday too!! My privacy screen came first though, but I was away on vacation so I got them both at the same time yesterday!! Everything is great! I love it! Extremely fast shipping too!! This is my first Thinkpad and I don't know if this is normal or not, but everytime I unplug or plug in the power cord it makes a beeping sound. It is like that when I turn it on without the cord too. Is this normal?

It also beeps when you set it to sleep
You can turn it off by going to bios (press F1 when you start your laptop)

Hey guys I just received notification this weekend that my T400 has been shipped. I am curious as to how long it would take to arrive from China to the USA. Its been two days the laptop shipped on friday and there has been no change in status on the UPS site.

Still feel a bit silly since mobile nehalem is around the corner, but hopefully this guy should have a few good years of service ahead of it. My old T43 lasted a good four years of some seriously heavy abuse, and was the most reliable piece of technology I've ever owned, but it's about time for an upgrade.

They claim that it's shipped in the order status, but have not posted a tracking number as of today, 22 Oct 2009. I called them on 21 Oct 2009 and got the telephone equivalent of a blank stare. Was told that it takes 2 business days to get a tracking number. I replied that it's been 2 business days. He then said he'd put in a request to retransmit and I should have a tracking number emailed to me in 2 additional business days. Basically, in this case, I think shipped doesn't really mean shipped.

Emailed them and got a response this morning. It shipped on 19 Oct. They just neglected to post me a tracking number. Should arrive Monday. Can't wait, tired of using the netbook, ready for the T500.

I had a question regarding shipping times, I am planning on buying a t400s but im still saving up for it ( don't want to have it linger on my cc but pay it off right away). I was reading and it seems a lot of these are coming from China?
If I wanted to have it in time for my trip to Europe beginning of December, whats the latest you think I can order it so it arrives by Dec 3? do they all come from China? and if so how long does shipping take from there?

Well, I got an email from Lenovo saying that some parts were backordered and they had to "reset" my order. They upgraded me to the 250gb 7200 RPM drive for about $20, and changed the screen. She said its the same WSXGA+ resolution, but with a different part number. Any idea on the differences? The new screen is 44C1924, not sure on the old one.. She also added Win7.

New total is about $1182 for the laptop, and $1297 shipped with tax and warranty. My new estimated ship date is not til 11/11..

My new estimated ship date is now 11/17!! Does being on the "critical list" actually help anything, or is it just something they say to keep people from complaining? Just like everyone else, I am seriously dissappointed so far...

Update!! My laptop shipped on 11/04/09, 11 business days after my initial order. I would say that is reasonable considering the original estimate of 10 days, I just wish the communication was better throughout the process. I think next time I will just skip the CTO and order through my distributor like usual.

I ordered a T400 Refurb. They are saying it will take them a week to ship it out. When I checked the Order Status 4 business days later it showed that the order had not shipped. when I checked on the 5th business day, it said it shipped on the 2nd day after the order.

It looks like when you order a Refurb, they get the order out in a reasonable time, but they allow themselves 7-10 days, and then their updates to the Order Status are lagging. In the end, it looks like it is going to take them 7-10 days to pull a box off the shelf and ship it. In my case it took two days.

The shipping times are decent, but the communication (or lack of), is confusing.

As far as the disks, I purchased a Dell for my parents right before Vista came out and the free upgrade disks also took about a month and a half to get to me, after release. I agree, I don't know what were they doing with the cd's for that long but maybe its Microsoft..?

I ordered a T400 on 11/5. It has an estimated ship date of 11/13 - fair enough. Yesterday, 11/9, I decided to contact customer service to ask if they had any more information. To my surprise, I was told that the order had not been assigned to the warehouse for a build!

The customer service person from overseas apologized and said that he would send out an email to request a build. I am not really sure what would have happened if I just did'nt pursue a call to customer service. Furthermore, I am not even convinced that calling customer service made any difference, since the guy said that he had just requested a build, and there were no guarantees that the laptop is going to be built on time.

Has anyone else had similar experience with their T400 order? This is going to be one of many thinkpads that I have ordered in the past, with a lot of satisfaction. Unfortunately, Lenovo communication, other than the initial order confirmation email, has been sparse. The order status just says "In Process" without any specifics. Hopefully, as always, they will do a build quickly, as they are fast approaching my shipping estimate date of 11/13

Ordered T400 (2764CTO) on 11/17 with estimated ship of 11/25. Actual ship 11/23. Update sig 11/??.

Ordered 11/16/2009, just received shipping e-mail today, 11/24/2009, waiting for tracking info (Maryland, USA.)

As other people have said, not much feedback from the Lenovo Order status page.

Basically, your order status will start with "In Process", stay that way while it's being built, and won't change untill it is shipped. My CC wasn't billed, but I called Amex and they verified that a "hold" was put on the card in the amount of the order, on the 16th.
So if people are wondering about their order, you might want to give your CC company a call to see if a hold has been placed by Lenovo.

My big question now, is how big should I make my system (OS) partition? I know, OT!

EDIT: My lovely Thinkpad arrived on December 1st, 2009. But I didn't receive extra mouse covers! I guess I should call to see if they can send me some.
