T410s Orders

Hey guys,
I ordered a couple of t410s' on 1/7 and they have an expected ship date of 2/12. The order status has not changed. A quick call to IBM says my order has "hanged." Lenovo's can sometimes take a while to receive especially new release models, so I'm not particularly worried. But hey, just wondering...
Between the T410 or T410s, has anyone received one yet? Has Lenovo shipped even one?

Some other users and I have surmised that the delay on some T410 and T410s machines is due to the fact that they were ordered with either the i5-540M chips or some sort of NVIDIA graphics (switchable or discrete). It seems the machines that have just the Intel graphics might be shipping sooner.
I ordered the T410s with 540M. Also, I ordered through the US website.

Yet, I still know very little about why my order hasn't shipped.
Could be T410s, i5-540, NVIDIA switchable, intel 80gig, etc...

I know it's disappointing to have to wait. It's likely the reason yours is taking longer is due to the specific configuration you ordered. If just one component needed to build yours is temporarily out of stock for a day or longer, that's the reason for the delay. The good news is after it arrives you will immediately enjoy it.

A little update:
Friday, I got a voicemail from IBM sales saying that they had a small problem with my order and that I should call them back. Unfortunately, I got the message after the department had already closed. I just called today and it appears the sales center is having issues. My order still has an expected ship date of 2/12.
Update: Bad weather in NC had the sales center opening later than usual today...

Bad news everyone.
Following up with the voicemail I received Friday, I just got off the phone with my Lenovo sales rep. Apparently, orders for T410s' with the i5-540M and switchable graphics are being canceled and new quotes for lower spec'd machines are being offered. My order was just downgraded to the i5-520M with Intel integrated graphics. Sadly, the price of the order was not reduced to compensate for the lower specs. I've put my order on hold as I think about how to proceed.
Any ideas?

However, looking at your config list. I see 2 things
1. 3 Year ADP
2. Multi-Touch Screen?(60Y6836 SBB BASE 2ND TOUCH-INT INT GR)
If these were not available in your original config, sounds like a good deal..?
Are they keeping the ship date the same as you had mentioned above 2/12?

1. I forgot to mention it, but the previous order did have the 3 Year ADP also.
2. I'm asking the sales guy about the multi-touch line item. That would be nice if it was. Then I could remove it.
3. He quoted me 9 days for shipping but said likely less.
Comparing similarly configured T410 machines, one with discrete and the other without etc, I came up with at least a 70 dollar price difference (-50 for processor downgrade and at least -20 for the lose of switchable discrete graphics). That is, since the new quote has lower specs and does not include multi-touch, then it should be least 70 dollars cheaper than my old order...

Yeah thats true. But the 410's are a different category. Lenovo now touts the 410s as their ultraportable line. Switchable graphics etc are features of the 410s thats not on the 410. So I guess the premium is there.
If your rep quoted 9 days shipping or less its a good sign for those of us who are waiting for the 410s to appear back so we can order. You are lucky to get your order in before Lenovo yanked it out of their site.
I am personally hoping to get the multi-touch version of this. Keep us posted on how this goes down. Looking forward for a review if you receive this baby soon.

The biggest concern I have is his quoting 9 days. Typically I've found when ordering they will quote you a short time line like 9 days so you don't complaint, and to encourage you to place the order. Or in your case, not cancel. Then once all is set suddenly that time gets extended. Other than that I would ask for a price adjustment. That's very unfair to downgrade the specs without the appropriate price reduction. Good luck!
