correct memory module for T400

#1 Post by eelton » Sun Aug 10, 2008 12:59 pm

I ordered a T400 with 2 GB or memory (1 DIMM), and I would like to get another 2 GB, as I'll be running Vista Business 64-bit. I want to make sure I get the right type of memory. I know it's DDR3. Is it ECC? (I also see non-ECC listed).

Would this work?: http://shop.kingston.com/PartsInfo.asp? ... 066D3E7/2G

Thanks.

Thinkpads use Non-ECC - but generally ECC will work as well.

Thanks. It looks like the non-ECC is cheaper, so I guess that's the one to go with: http://shop.kingston.com/PartsInfo.asp? ... 066D3S7/2G

Non ECC is both cheper and faster. You only need EEC RAM for servers.
