T400 WWAN - AT&T

#1 Post by abester1 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 11:51 am

Hi All,
I have a general question regarding the T400 (or T500 for that matter) and using the WWAN option on the AT&T / Cingular Network.

I already have a PC-card WWAN Solution with a SIM card inside of it. I was wondering if I can just take the SIM Card from the pcmcia card and install it in the T400 sim card slot and get the same coverage. Is the PC "locked" for a single SIM card or can it take other active/working SIM cards?

Also, is there any requirement to buy a new data service plan for WWAN for new laptop??

I guess what I want to do is take my existing WWAN SIM Card from my pcmcia wireless card and install it in the thinkpad without activating a new service contract with AT&T.

Any idea's? or am I looking for trouble?

Thank you in advance...

it can take any SIM. Just pop out yours and slide it in and off you go. The card itself is probably locked to AT&T however but if you could unlock it you could slide in a T-Mobile, Vodaphone, O2, or another SIM also.
