Base Software Administrator

I just got my T400 today, and I wanted to do a clean install without the junkware, but to my surprise, the "Base Software Administrator" doesn't work with the T400.
It said that my version of rescue & recovery doesn't support this software (paraphrasing).
I couldn't find any newer version either.
It's a good thing that Norton no longer comes preinstalled otherwise I think I might send the whole thing back to Lenovo. Norton software is worse than the viruses themselves.
Anybody have an idea about how to select what I want installed and what I don'?
