Will this HD carrier fit an X4 dock?

I believe the one I'm looking for is the 41U3148.

Does it go in and out smoothly?

The "Ultrabay Slim IDE 2nd HDD Adapter" comes under the following ASM's or P/N's or FRU's codes:

ASM 62P4554 = FRU 62P4553

P/N 41U3148 = FRU 41N5661

... and to the best of my knowledge, they are identical (see e.g. LF Ultrabay Slim IDE 2nd HDD Adapter or Notebook 2nd Hard Drive Adapter for Ultrabay Slim - Service parts - which will work for a X4 dock according to Notebook 2nd Hard Drive Adapter for Ultrabay Slim - Overview. Only the second FRU (41N5661) can be directly ordered via IBM's maintenance parts site.

According to the Wiki, the X4 dock takes a standard UltraBay Slim device, so this should work fine.
