Hi everyone,

I would like to order new thinkpad, but I not sure to choose T400 or Sl300.

my important points is :

1- best screen.
2- better audio.
3- performance.
4- build quality.
5-weight.


please advice me for best thinkpad for me.

T400 hands down, beats the SL300 in every way. Simply put: the SL-series is POS.

In terms of screen and audio quality? If anything, the SL300 would be better than the business-oriented T400.

Performance isn't going to be different on similarly configured machines, and as for weight, the SL300 is 4.6 lbs and the T400 starts at 5.3 lbs.

Build quality is the only item on OP's list for which the T400 has an appreciable advantage.

guys,Thank you for your replies, one another questions: is there is a real difference in audio quality for two notebook, because this is important think for me.

If audio quality is important to you - neither one will be very good. Get some external speakers.

1 - T400
2 - ????
3 - Same
4 - T400
5 - SL300

The T400 supports WXGA+ while the SL300 only does WXGA. I cannot comment on the audio, but I would think that the extra inch in the T400 might make room for better speakers; both models SHOULD use the same chip (Conextant SmartAudio 221). Performance should be identicle. Build quality is where the T400 is going to beat the SL300 hands down. The weight is the SL300's only clear advantage.
