Essential Port Replicator Issue

#1 Post by lponz7 » Sun Sep 07, 2008 9:53 pm

I have an essential port replicator ("EPR") that I have used with my T61 without problems and that continues to work fine with the T61. However, when I connect my T400 (w/ discrete graphics and Vista HP) I receive no signal to the external monitor. I have tried booting with the lid open, but it just hangs at the "Thinkpad" splash screen.

I called Lenovo support, who told me the EPR is incompatible with the T400, but I know that's wrong. It's disappointing how uninformed their service reps are. My guess is that the 25-pin connector on the T400 is bad, but that's speculation on my part. Therefore, I'd be interested to hear whether anyone else is experiencing docking issues with the T400/500.

Many thanks. lponz7

The Advanced Mini Dock works ok, except that it always boots on the laptop screen which messes up the resolution sometimes. (Minor inconvenience).
