I have a discrete T400 with XP, Wifi 5300, ATT 3G, DVD RW, and media reader.
No bluetooth, no camera, no turbo memory, no fingerprint.
Bios is set to integrated graphics and Intel display drivers are installed.
The problem is that randomly I get that sound of a USB device getting uplugged and plugged into my system. It happens daily, but with no certain predictability. If I am on my system for 3 hrs, it might happen twice.
System doesn't slow down or anything, but I get the sound of a device being unplugged and then plugged back in.
This happens while running on battery. I'm not certain if it happens while plugged in.
Any suggestions what might be causing this?

I'd just keep Device Manager open.thinkfish wrote:I have a discrete T400 with XP, Wifi 5300, ATT 3G, DVD RW, and media reader.

Wifi 5300 is problem
I didn't have any luck using the Device Manager, it refreshes upon ding and what is present is the same as what was there before.
After thinking about it I figured it might be the power saving features on the 5300.
So if you deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under network properties, it gets rid of the random ding.
I figure if I am on my laptop, I am wireless, so no need to turn it off.
