Hello everyone,
A few days ago I received my T400, and was having no problems with it until today. For some reason, whenever I leave the laptop closed for a few minutes, or whenever I try to reboot (rather than shut down), the computer does not seem to want to start up again. I can hear the fans running inside and I see a few of the green lights under the display on, but I get absolutely no response (black screen) even after waiting for fifteen minutes. The only way to get out of this is to manually shut down by holding the power button. Would anyone happen to know the cause of this problem, and/or an effective way of fixing it?
Thanks in advance.

have you made any changes to the power settings or loaded any applications..?
might it be coming up with the display blanked..?
what i would do is try reloading the OS from the recovery CD set..
that way in can learn if something i did is causing this behaviour..
if you have not yet made a recovery CD set i suggest that you do this right away..
of course, if you have spent hours setting it up this is not such a great way to troubleshoot..

RE:reboot
This doesn't sound like an OS issue, since the OS is shut down by the time the computer would be shutting down. I'd update the bios first, and, if that doesn't work, load up a preinstall or live CD and try to reboot. If it does so successfully, then we know it's an OS issue, and windows probably doesn't actually shut down.
