T400 and dual external monitors

#1 Post by alister » Wed Oct 01, 2008 8:49 am

I'm not sure what I'm doing but by the look of the some of the threads I found it seems this new dock setup isn't foolproof.

I have two external monitors I usually use with the laptop closed and docked. If I have both monitors on the resolution get all goofed up and I can't increase it to the native resolution. I am using DVI to the primary and VGA to the secondary. I haven't messed with the discrete/onboard video options either.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I use a T400 with advanced mini dock.
I have 2 external Samsung 245BWs. Each is using WUXGA (1920x1200).
I have notice that when the computer starts up the laptop monitor always comes on first thereby messing up the resulution. Not a big deal though.

I don't understand what your question is though. What are you trying to figure out?

On the T6x, there is a BIOS setting that determines which monitor is used for booting up. It's probably there in the T400 as well. You could set it to DVI+VGA or DVI only or VGA only and maybe that won't mess up your resolution at start up.
