I "ordered" Vista B. and got XP B. instead

Hey everyone,

Just today I got a T400 I ordered (on top of the T60 and X61; my wife is not happy  ). However, it came with XP Pro installed, instead of Vista Business with the downgrade to XP Pro included. I was certain that I had ordered Vista, so you will understand my surprise when I saw that I had XP Pro. I checked the email confirmation I got, and I can't find Vista anywhere; needless to say that I didn't check when I got the email. I called Lenovo, but the sales department is not open until tomorrow.

Do you guys think that I have a chance to get Lenovo to replace the OS, or to send me the discs? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Robert

Ahaha!
Now I get it.
However, I must say that they should include at least a brief note about this with the computer itself. I will give it a shot and report back. Thanks a lot Erik.

Ok, here's what I got.
I already tried it, and it didn't work. I read all of Erik's link, and it seems that I am not alone: many other users report being unable to use the supposedly-preloaded Vista version. I will call tomorrow and report back. In the mean time, if anyone has any other ideas, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks.

Robert.

I called this morning, and they told me the same thing as the Lenovo blog entry. I was told to do a restore, but it didn't work.

So far, I have been bounced around 5 or 6 times. Somebody says sales will take care of it, then they say not, it's parts, then they say no it's software, and finally I was transferred to the Canadian side of things twice. I am on the phone right now, and I am not getting a solution, they are just giving me the run around. I have never had a problem with Lenovo, just nice things. However, they are starting to tick me off. I will report back.

UPDATE:

I finally got Nicole, who spoke to her supervisor, and s/he authorized her to overnight me a set of Vista Ultimate discs. Like I said before, no problems with Lenovo :D .

How do you like Vista Ultimate compared to XP on the T400?
