Sooo, Macbook Pros come in 15.4" LED backlight displays, so they do exist. Can we do a retrofit? Are the connectors the same?

I assume there should be some industry standard on this...?

They're cheap too. $110 on eBay.

What's so special on a regular TN panel with LED backlight except power saving ?

They're a good amount brighter, they have much more uniform backlighting, and they have a much much higher lifespan.

All my CCFLs have never lasted more than 3 years because I use them pretty heavily (12+ hours a day).

I'm sure there are better panel out there, but LED screen on my T400 is a HUGE improvement over any Thinkpad LCD I've used ( did not own a IPS yet ) to say the least. I am very happy with the screen for my day to day usage, ranging from bright outdoor to total darkness bedroom not distrubing my wife situratioin. As much as I like how bright the screen can be ( and that's very important too ), it is equally amazing to be able to adjust to extremely dim.

I was also hoping this screen will not only last a lot longer, but doing so without fading or "yellowing", although only time will tell.
