Windows Experience score remains at 1!!!!!

#1 Post by rmendoza » Fri Oct 24, 2008 1:45 am

Hey everyone,

I just got a T400, with Windows Vista Ultimate and ATI HD 3400, with 256 MB memory. The computer originally came with XP Pro, even though I had ordered Vista; Lenovo kindly sent me a set of Vista recovery discs, and I proceeded to install it.

When I first installed Vista, it didn't recognize the GPU, and it started up with this horrible resolution; I proceeded to change it to the maximum possible, but the ATI card was not "there". To make a long story short, I ran system update and windows update, and downloaded all the drivers. Now the GPU is recognized, up to date as far as drivers and all, and the resolutions seems fine.

HOWEVER, the Vista Experience score still says that it's 1, due to poor graphics performance. It doesn't really match the performance, as it seems to be ok: I have Aero, with all the effects, and the screen looks beautiful (it's a backlit LCD, 1440 x 900).

Needless to say, I am baffled as to why Windows doesn't improve the score. And by the way, on the Windows Experience screen, it keeps on saying "New Device Found", even after I "update" the score, which never seems to be updated.

Any suggestions or input is appreciated.
