T500 - the docking nightmare

Hi all,

I just want to ask you if you have a solution for this problem: Whenever I dock my machine, the monitor detection does go mad. It is a lottery which monitor the primary is which the secondary, what resolution, where is the windows task bar (sometimes in the middle of the screen). Sometimes when the machines wakes up from sleep mode in the dock, I do not see anything, the only way to recover is to undock and redock.

I have the impression that there are too many programs fighting against each other for the correct resolution/monitor config. There is the ATI driver, then I think there is something build in in vista, and the presentation director.

I configured a schema in the presentation director, and once I am able to call it and press my "dock" schema, then everything is all right.
It is just a mess.

My config:
Minidock with Eizo 24Inch on DVI (1920 x 1200)
and Polycom 21 Inch on VGA (1680 x 1050)

Kind regards,

Wolfgang

I've long ago given up on trying to get this to work automatically, and I always just go into the presentation director and set up the correct scheme (at the cost of 10 seconds of my life) :)

There is also an option in the presentation director to choose a scheme which will ba applied automatically when docked. I found that it _usually_ works. ;)

Hi dr

could you please tell me where I can set this option? I do not find it.

Thanks

On my T60, you hit Fn+F7, then "Manage Schemes" and it is right there on the first screen ("When Notebook is docked").

Nughtmare is the perfect word. Welcome to the club.
I have 2 external monitors both at home and in my office.
Every time I dock it on either dock, its the same thing like you mentioned. I have the exact same make and model of monitors in both home and office, so that isn't the problem.

I uninstalled the presentation director. I just thought it was moe junkware that lenovo installed. I will try it.
