Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
does anyone know whether T400 switch-able graphic card works in Ubuntu or not?
I mean, can I use ATI card when I need and use integrated card when I do not do graphic intensive tasks?
Thanks

Hello.
Switchable graphics are not currently supported under Linux at this time.
However, as a workaround, you can keep both an ATI and Intel device section in your xorg.conf. When you want to switch to the other card just point the "Device" (under the "Screen" section) of your xorg.conf (1 line) to the card you want, reboot, select the card in the BIOS, and you are now working on the other card.

From what I've heard, that feature isn't even supported under XP either.

You are correct. It's only a Vista supported feature right now.

Yeah. To support it under XP, they would need to write a driver that handles both cards WITHOUT reloading the driver file. It could be done, but it would be a lot of work for an aging OS. Reboot to switch requires no effort once you have all the drivers loaded and set up.
