Mouse and Keyboard sometimes not responding on XP

#1 Post by umnachtung » Fri Nov 07, 2008 3:59 am

:?:

Hi,

I am writing this post with the hope that maybe someone has had the same problem and knows how to solve it. I have recently bought a clean T400 from the university and I performed a fresh install of XP on it. For that I used all the required Lenovo drivers and my system seemed to work properly. I also installed the UltraNav driver and the Hotkey-stuff.

However, sometimes I am experiencing the problem that neither the Trackpoint nor the Touchpad respond after Windows startup. When I then put my T400 into sleep mode and wake it again, the mouse often (but not always) works again. However, in some cases it gets even worse after waking up: the keyboard does not respond except for the Fn-key then.

I assume it has something to do with the Lenovo drivers that do not load properly on boot. For example, I always experience some time lag on the login screen, until the mouse or keyboard responds (if it does at all).
Maybe my XP would work better with its generic mouse and keyboard drivers, but I want to use some of the features of the Lenovo drivers.

Could someone help?

Thanks,

Stefan :)

I've never had that problem and I'm running XP. Try re-installing the srivers and software, and make sure you don't have any other programs trying to grab or control their input. I don't think it's a problem from lenovo's software.

I've had the exact same issue under both XP and Vista. I've heard that it is a driver issue. However after trying out several drivers (Lenovo, M$, Synaptics), the problem persists.

I was wondering if anyone can shed a clue on it. TIA.

Hello,

I am a new T400 owner, and am planning to do a fresh XP Pro install to downgrade from Vista Basic.

I am concerned about this keyboard/touchpad issue as a couple of people - but not everyone - have encountered it.

Have any of the people in this thread been able to diagnose/resolve this issue?
