very quick question, media card slot?

#1 Post by joncnca » Fri Nov 28, 2008 11:08 pm

ok, i've searched and read up and no one explains this in a single sentence, it's always ambiguous, probably because people already know the answer.

but i recently got this wrong, and ended up with something i didn't want.

when ordering the t400, the option for system expansion slots:

"Express card & media card slots"

Does "media card slots" mean it reads SD cards? yes/no

thank you so much, i don't understand why they don't put the formats that're supported in brackets or something.

The actual options for a T400 are;

Express Card Slot & PC Card Slot
Express Card Slot & Smart Card Reader [add $10.00]
Express Card Slot & 7-1 Media Card Reader [add $10.00]

Did you want to rephrase your question?

If I understand what you are asking, the answer is that the 'Smart Card Reader' does not read SD cards, but the 7-1 'Media Card Reader' does read SD cards. In fact it reads SD,SDHC,XD,MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro.

Hi Harryc,

thanks for replying. yes, actually i'm ordering from the canadian site, as i'm in canada. the options you've listed are for the US site.

my options are actually:

Express Card & PC Card Slots
Express Card & Smart Card Slots [add $10.00]
Express Card & Media Card Slots [add $10.00]

an yes, unfortunately in the past i chose smart card, which isn't what i wanted.

so based on the Express Card Slot & 7-1 Media Card Reader, i'm thinking that 'media card' refers to SD, etc.

just wanted to double check. it's like i said, i don't understand why they just list out the types of media that're supported. it doesn't take that much space on the screen.

i hope this goes through properly, if lenovo cancels my order one more time due to one of their errors, i might just take that as a sign that God doesn't want me to own a thinkpad

thanks!

I would agree that for the Canadian models 'Media Card Slot' does read SD cards.
