Feedback on T500 WXGA (1280x800) LED backlit screen

Hello - does anyone have any personal experience with the T500 WXGA backlit screen?

I've done some searching and I've come across one user's feedback (washed out colors, not generally happy), but was looking for additional comments.

I'm looking to make a purchase for my wife who prefers a larger text (thus the WXGA instead of WXGA+). But I definitely would like a screen that is bright and with a decent contrast ratio.

This online review claims the T500 (with CCFL) has decent brightness & contrast ratio.... should the LED backlighting improve both measurements?

Any comparisons to the Macbook Pro or regular Macbook? (latest 2008 unibody). I personally use a Macbook Pro and that's my benchmark for a good screen. I've heard that Dell has started using the same panels + LEDs as apple. If that is the case... i might be swayed to pick up a Latitude instead.

Thanks in advance

Not sure on the WXGA (or other LED), but the WUXGA CCFL screen (and most likely the other CCFL screens) for the T500/W500 are pretty decent. Haven't seen them side-by-side with a mac, however. Personally, I haven't loved most LED backlights I've seen. RGB LED should help, but plain white LEDs tend to give a low (bluish) color temperature. They also don't have the same character to the colors as a decent CCFL.

If one looks at the specifications of these two screens, there doesn't seem to be very much difference between them. Lenovo specifies the WXGA screen with LED backlight in T500 as having a brightness of 190 nits and a 300:1 contrast ratio. The WXGA screen with CCFL in T500 is specified as having a brightness of 200 nits and a 300:1 contrast ratio.

good brightness, the resolution is terrible, im going to be gaming on it a little so i can live with a lower resolution for better frame rates. im on it right now and think that i should have opted for the higher resolution.
