Can't get rid of stuck pixel on new T400

#1 Post by futurejp » Wed Jan 21, 2009 8:28 pm

Hi,

I got my T400 last Wednesday and a day or two ago I noticed a pixel was stuck showing blue. My screen is 14.1 WXGA+ TFT. I tried JScreenFix and some other program that puts a bright flashing window over the problematic pixels. Some people say they got results in minutes, some say hours are needed. I've only tried for a few minutes (with no luck) but I can still definitely run it overnight. I also tried lightly flicking the pixel, putting a bit of pressure on it, and even putting pressure on it while restarting the computer, all of which people have used to fix their own stuck pixels. This hasn't seemed to work for me.

Anyone have a good solution for this? It kind of sucks that I already have a stuck pixel which I notice quite a bit (mostly because I'm aware of it).

Thanks

You are still within 2 weeks since having received your machine. You could return it (honestly, I don´t think this is really a great idea but better so than having to put up with that, on the top of that on a new ThinkPad...)

Just my 2 cents

Generally, if it doesn't work, then it just doesn't work. And most of the time, it doesn't work, as far as I know.

You can either return the machine or live with it. One of my laptops also has a stuck bright pixel (red on black). It's not really an issue unless one obsesses over it. ;)

The software has never works for me.

I'm always surprise to hear the cases where they have worked. Hot pixels are hardware defects so don't expect too much software miracles.

Ask yourself you find it annoying right now. If so, you'd better return it because, trust me, that feeling won't go away.

Best Regards,
Tony

Return it, that screen is broken.

It is absurd that anyone would be expected to live with a broken LCD right out of the box.

Dead pixel is not equivalent to broken screen.

I can assure you that any laptop comes out of the box with dozens of small random defects, much bigger than a single dead pixel.

Send it back and get another. Trust me, this will drive you nuts and you will notice it more and more the longer you own it!
