Battery charge and optical drive LED?

Hy!
I made a new topic for different questions, maybe it will go very messy when i put those in a old topic.

So the thirst question is about a battery charge. When i change the battery charge tresholds: start 20% and finish 90% then between those percents power manager shows no acitvity. So this means that battery not charging despite computer is in powersocket? I hold battery 40% three days in powersocket, and battery percent not decreasing, why is that? When power manager shows no acitivity, why battery doesnt decrease, it must decrease about 1% in three days or the battery doesnt decrease so fast when it has no activity?

Second question is about optical driver LED, its shining all the time, except when comupter is hibernate or shut down. Is there a way to turn off that LED?

Well, basically yes, remove the drive from the ultrabay :) Actually, it´s not supposed to shine when the optical drive is not active...

EDIT: Which LED do you mean? Actually, there are two different LEDs there, one for the drive activity and one to show that an ultrabay device is installed and active. I guess you mean the latter one. In that case you could power off the ultrabay device by using "safe remove" from within Vista. No physical removal is needed. However, I don´t know if it automatically becomes active again after a few hours, but I believe it doesn´t (have never tried this out for longer time).

Hope this helps

Yes i mean that second guess. But i doubt that will help. Because power manager turns off the optical drive anyway. I think thats more mechanical problem, and cant be solve in windows. But i will try what you recommend.

Well, there must be a difference between Lenovo Power Manager and Windows I believe. The windows feature "safe removal" really powers off the device (I don´t know about Power Manager...) and in my case the green light turns off (actually, both green lights on the ultrabay turn off).

Anyway that didnt help! LED still shining, even if i disabled or uninstalled optical drive in windows. By the way i have vista. It only stop shining when i put away optical drive form laptop. But then there is a hole.

Wow, that must be something new with the T400 series. In my Z61p this procedure works flawlessly. Sorry to hear that it didn´t work out for you.

Anyway, battery question got answer, because for about 5 days later, battery decrease 1%, so its ok now.
