Wattage display unavailable with latest power manager pkg?

#1 Post by timeck » Sun Feb 01, 2009 5:07 pm

I recently installed the latest version (1.51a) of the thinkpad "Power Manager" software on my t400 and it now seems that the show "wattage when on battery" display is no longer available? Am I just failing to find the option to enable it, or has it been removed completely? The UI for the power manager seems to have gotten a complete facelift with the version so I fear it has been removed :-(

Stepping back to version 1.47 of the software gives me the option back

To be sure, this image shows the display I'm looking to enable:

I'm still convinced that the option to display wattage on the battery gauge was removed from the UI in 1.51a, but I found a way to fix my problem.

It seems that the following registry controls what is displayed:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IBM\PWRMGR\Data]
"ShowRemainingTimeGauge"=dword:00000002

0 is to display "remaining percentage"
1 is to display "time remaining"
2 is to display "wattage"

After changing the registry, you can reboot or toggle on/off the gauge in the power manager application

Roughly said, it is amount of power that your computer consumes currently. The higher the value, the faster will the battery drain.

Hi All,

Sorry for digging up an old topic.
However, I noticed that I was unable to get the wattage display to show up even with the registry hack. I'm using PWM 1.60 with my X61 Type-7674.

Anyone having similar problems?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe the new version no longer accepts the registry choice beyond (0) percent and (1) time.

Try the old versions possibly?

Thanks a lot for your reply.
Is there any particular differences in the options available bet. the current version and the previous version? Would prefer not to revert if possible

I had tried the registry change on a T400 with a p8400(only 9 cells).
I doubt the displays.
Does the software work correctly 8) ?.
