I'm looking to install a ATA 133 hard drive in my T400, Will it work or should I stay with the ATA 100?

Thanks,

T400 have a SATA drive interface, so you can't use a PATA drive in one.

What is it you want to achieve?

Cheers,

Let us also know what drive do you have right now.

If the cost is not a problem, you may want to look at some SSD drives, they are much faster (especially in terms of seek times) than standard mechanical hard drives.

Alternatively, look for a SATA 2,5" notebook hard drive with 9.5mm height. Speedy are the ones with high rotational speed, measured in rpm-s. Look for a 7200rpm one. But please bear in mind that they are somewhat more noisy than the slower ones.

yak has good advice. You don't need to worry about ATA-100 vs. ATA-133 because the T400 doesn't accept that (older) type of drive. You will need a SATA drive instead.
