New Thinkpad Owner - Maybe?

Hello everyone,

I recently (4/1) ordered a Thinkpad T500 from the Lenovo Website. It sure seemed like a great deal at the time. But, now I've been reading some horror stories of long shipping dates and non working machines coming from Lenovo. I'm having second thoughts.

Should I cancel and look for something else? Or should I wait it out and see what happens?

This would be my first ThinkPad. I sure was excited about it...

Before you get all panicked, just consider who, for the most part, seeks out a forum like this -> People with problems.

All those people without problems are out enjoying a beautiful Sunday (well, they are here, anyway - 77F, clear blue skies, flowers are blooming) instead of logging in here to declare that they're happy.

That doesn't mean that you won't have any problems. After all, if you do, you'll be smacking yourself in the head for not listening to that 1/10 of 1% who posted about their problems. It just means have some perspective about it.

For what it is worth I got my T400 last week and it is perfect!

I've been reading these "same complaints" about new ThinkPads _and_ Other Brands of notebooks for years. Specifics aside its human nature for some people to choose to complain and condemn, in many cases exaggerating the "problem". Whereas others are in fact bringing in valid issues and looking for help. Expecting perfection is unrealistic when it comes to a device as complex as a computer. After all that's why there is a warranty. We must remember these are mass produced with components from a wide variety of vendors, therefore there are a lot of variables. I've purchased a tremendous number of new ThinkPads and I can assure you they are excellent computers. Finally as was mentioned earlier its very important to remember that only people with problems come here for help. Whereas the users with no problems have no reason to post.

Thanks for the assurance guys. I know Thinkpads have loyal fans and have at least had a good rep in the past, that's why I decided to take the plunge.

I'm sure I made the right decision and I'll be happy with my new THinkpad.
