swap ati 3470 with 3650 to use in T400

I was wondering if i can swap the ATI 3470 card I have in my T400 with an ATI 3650 like the one found in the T500. I did a bit of research and found out both are the same size (MXM II 73mm by 78mm) and I can use the driver from the T500.
Will this work?
I know heat will rise and power consumption will go up too but I only use the dedicated graphics card a few times when I am plugged in and i can use a laptop cooler. I heard the graphics card is not removable but I was wondering if anyone had any other input.

I love the size and battery of the T400 for on the go but when I need that extra graphic performance for 3d programs the 3470 doesn't cut it some times.
So can it be done?

I was about to say definitely not until you told me that it's an MXM module, that means it's not hard soldered to the board... it could be possible but I'm not sure if the BIOS'd like it. I'll wait to hear from others first.

I do not think that the GPUs on the T400/T500 are MXM at all. Sure that these specific GPUs might be available as MXM, but I doubt that Lenovo actually implemented them as MXM (we'd hear about it for sure). I'm more inclined to believe that they are, like in all previous generations of Thinkpads, soldered to the board, and therefore unswappable.

The HMM also doesn't mention anything about a separage GPU module. All it mentions is "system board assembly", different for different GPUs.
