Wireless malfunctions sometimes

#1 Post by Czechnology » Tue May 05, 2009 12:32 pm

(sorry if it's already here, couldn't find it)

I'm having trouble with the WLAN on my T400.
Sometimes, usually after a few hours of work, the WLAN decides to disconnect. I'm then unable to get connected again - the control light stays lit (with just a short off-state every five seconds or so) but the system reports it's unable to turn it on while trying to connect or via [Fn]+[F5]. Bluetooth responds ok. Hardware radio-switching doesn't help to get it working again.
The only solution is to restart.

Anyone experienced this already? Any ideas?

Do you use Access Connections?

I would check out the various power settings for the wifi:

1) Device Manager -> your wifi card -> Power Management tab -> uncheck "turn off wifi to save power"

2) Power Manager profile

3) Control Center -> Power Options -> Advanced Power Settings

Also, check for wifi driver or BIOS updates on Lenovo site that may address similar issues.

Hope this helps,

Marin

PS: BTW, yes, similar topics have been discussed several times. If you hate Vista, go for Windows 7 :P

Slightly OT: Yes, I plan that. Are there any guides on how the Lenovo software works in Win7? (T400/T500 series in particular)

As of now, not really. But you may want to check out the Windows 7 subforum. I believe many things do work under Windows 7, some may not work. I was able to install all drivers I needed, but I have different system.

Cheers,

Marin

I have the same problem on my T400 - drives me nuts. I've disabled the wireless powersaver options, but it still happens. This has kept my T42 in service since I need a computer that will stay online for long periods of time to run some aps. I'm about to do a clean install of XP on a new system and I am hoping that this is a vista issue...
