I have been experiencing distorted Windows event sounds using XP (startup, shutdown, beep, etc) on my T400. The audio itself sounds simply as if it has been tuned several steps lower than normal; certainly noticably different than the same event sounds played back over a T61.
All other audio (.mp3, .wav playback, CD) is normal; the problem is strictly confined to these Windows sounds. This is a fresh format with XP SP3. An install of Vista and Windows 7 RC1 have no such issues.
Current driver is the latest available from Lenovo- Conexant High Definition Smart Audio 3.64.6. I cannot locate a driver direct from the manufacturer for comparison, but clearly it's a software bug. Has anyone else experienced this, or can offer a suggestion?

Re: T400 - Distorted Windows Sounds in XP
I have noticed this on startup, shutdown, and return from sleep/hibernate. Never in regular applications during more normal use.
