LED or CCFL is not a display type but backlight technology. Your display type it outdated technology called TN. LED backlight displays typically have better maximum brightness but the backlight uniformity and bleeding is usually even worse than older CCFL ones.
BTW is it that important ? The backlight technology type can not improve the overall horrible display quality Lenovo delivers.

Okay, seriously. We have FlexView/IPS T60s at work and I'll take mine ANY day of the week. The slightly better contrast of the FlexView is nowhere near as good as the SUBSTANTIALLY better brightness. And what "bleeding" are you talking about? I've had three ThinkPads starting with the T22. Please enlighten me.

What exactly are you trying to say in your post Puppy? I have a T400 with 1440x900 CCFL backlit screen. It's colorful, crisp, and the lighting is uniform throughout the width of the screen. I had a Dell E6400 with an LED backlit screen. It blinded me! I refunded it promptly and picked up my T400 on eBay, brand new, for a steal. I wouldn't trade this screen for anything. I'm not sure where you're getting "horrible display quality" - my screen is anything but horrible. I'm guessing there's quite a few others out there who will say the same thing about their Thinkpad screens.

What panel model/FRU of the panel do you have? Just curious because there is alot of variance in quality.

Any lcd panel based on TN tecnhology can not be used together with a word "quality". It is crap. Period. Sorry.
