T500 WWAN SIM Card

#1 Post by Randle » Fri Jun 19, 2009 9:39 pm

Hi, Just got my new T500 (2081CTO)

I'm having issues with the WWAN card and the sim slot. Sometimes it works when I start up and sometimes it doesn't work. When it doesn't work the Mobile Broadband doesn't even show up as an option (so I have to restart or hibernate). I had to fiddle with it and restart to get the internet working this time :(

Has anyone get any experience/ideas on how to improve the reliability of this?

Which WWAN card do you have installed? - If it is a Lenovo Ericsson F3507g, are you using the latest Lenovo drivers?. I had this card installed earlier this year (before the updated drivers were released) and found that it would disconnect/connect intermittantly - Unfortunately I no longer have it in my posession, so I am unable to comment if the latest drivers would have fixed the problems I was experiencing etc.

I haven't had issues with the WWAN card (mine is a Ericsson F3507g) dropping connections.

The problem is that the T500 doesn't reliably recognise the presence of the SIM/WWAN card (with the result that I cannot use it!).

I've narrowed the issue further:
  • If I startup without the laptop plugged in, the WWAN card won't show up no matter how many times I restart the system.
  • If I startup the computer (or resume from hibernate) with the power plugged in it will now recognise the presence of the card. I don't have to adjust the SIM or anything...
Further help would be greatly appreciated as when I want to use this card I am normally nowhere near power!
