New T400 with serious keyboard flex

Just laid hands on my T400 ordered in mid June and while still really excited about it, there is some serious KB flex mostly on the left side along with loose sounding mouse buttons above the ultranav. I thought the mushy KB was fixed in late 2008?

Is this just the nature of this beast or should I try to get lenovo to replace? My T60p does have some flex on the left, but not nearly this much. It looks like the kb is falling into a sinkhole when I press and there is some slight creaking if I listen closely. (the right isn't so bad, but isn't solid like my T60p)

Who knows, maybe I should have waited two weeks for the 400s. :) If it wasn't for wanting support for the old advanced mini-dock the 400s would have been the choice.

Remove the keyboard and check for the brackets pictured in the linked thread -

If they are present, the only other action that will make a difference is replacing the present keyboard with a T61 keyboard.

Your T400, like mine, was probably made before the revision and just was in stock for a long time. I got Lenovo to send me the T61 NMB keyboard and it is now as solid as any ThinkPad I've ever owned.

I have the support brackets and *still* have a flexy keyboard. Lenovo refuses to send me a T61 keyboard... anyone know the trick to get one sent?
