CPU Upgrade T500 possible?

#1 Post by thinkgrltech » Sat Jul 25, 2009 11:55 am

I have a T500 MT: 2082 running a P8400 (2.26GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB, TDP 25W) CPU. Will I be able to upgrade the CPU to a T9550 (2.67GHz, 6MB L2, 1066MHz FSB, TDP 35W) or higher? Or my options would only be the P series cpu's.

Any info on this would help. Thanks.

thinkgrltech,

Yes, you can upgrade your T from an Intel P-series CPU to a (faster) T-series. Do keep in mind, however, that you will get a little less battery run-time with the higher voltage CPU.

And while it shouldn't be absolutely necessary, it would be advisable to update your BIOS to the current revision before switching CPUs.

Enjoy.
